ADWM Consumer Tip of the Month
When Dee Ann  was the Public Information Officer for the Department of Weights & Measures she had a dream of creating monthly consumer awareness segments that news stations would air. She put together a calendars of segments with fun names like Beware of Tare (Packaging), Don't Get Fooled By Your Holiday Fowl (Thanksgiving), Is the Price Right? (UPC & Price Posting), Fueling for the Future (Gasoline) and so on.  She put together a script for each and hit the broadcast streets.

For four years she developed concepts, wrote segments, coordinated shooting locations, and  schedules and acted as a co-spokesperson for the "Weights & Measures Consumer  Consumer Tip of the Month" month segments that aired on Fox 10 morning show (4 years- 36 segments), ABC 15 Morning news (24 segments), Univision and KVOA TV evening news (12 segments).

Result:
  • Free TV advertisement with air time range from 1 to 3 minutes per segment
  • Increased public awareness of all the services the Department provides which caused a significant  increase in retail compliance
  • Increased inspector morale
  • Enhanced reputation on a national level due to other states following ADWM's promotional approach.

Dee Ann's Role:
For most projects Dee Ann's roles included: concept and scriptwriter, producer, story board designer, assistant director, location scout, media buyer, grip, graphic designer and on site photographer.

The above demo will give you an idea about what Dee Ann Deaton did as the Producer for Community View. The show was for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community so the communication was very different from most shows. There is also an example of one of my appearances as the Public Information Officer for the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures.
